S7-1200

The SIMATIC S7-1200 is an entry-level control system suitable for small to medium-sized automation applications. Programming is identical to that of the higher-end S7-1500 series PLCs. Each control unit comes with an integrated PROFINET interface as standard. Using expansion modules, communication can be extended to include additional communication protocols such as PROFIBUS, RS485, RS232, and others. Depending on the type of central unit, the PLC can be expanded with up to 8 I/O cards. Additional inputs and outputs can then be connected as PROFINET peripherals. The SIMATIC S7-1200 is also available in a Fail-Safe version for applications requiring safety functions or in a rugged SIPLUS version for extreme conditions.
